Dec. 2, 1942, The Waterloo Republican obituary: BERTRAM. Mrs. Ella M. Bertram of St. Louis, nee Clark, wife of the late Wm. Bertram, died Saturday, November 28, 1942 at the Bethesda General Hospital in that city, aged 72 years, 7 months and 8 days. She was born in Waterloo, April 20, 1870, a daughter of the late Silas and Eliza Clark, nee Hilton. The family lived here for about 17 years, and Mrs. Bertram was a resident here until about four years ago. For the past two and a half years, she made her home at St. Louis with her daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Sylvester Miller. Her husband, Wm. Bertram, preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1923. She is survived by seven daughters and three sons: Mrs. Geo. Spriesterbach, Dupo; Arthur and Herbert, Waterloo, Sr. Mary Paul and Sr. Mary Gregory of Sisters of Mercy Convent, Webster Groves, Mo.; Mrs. Alex Hug, Mrs. Sylvester Miller, Mrs. Harold Hellmer, Catherine and Leonard Bertram of St. Louis; sixteen grand-children and one great-grandchild; two sisters; Mrs. Chris Fults of St. Louis and Mrs. Ralph Playter of Detroit, and one brother, Arthur Clark of Collinsville. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Renault; with requiem mass said by Rev. J. Humma. Interment took place in the Renault Catholic cemetery.
