Nicoletti, Ernest J.
Ernest J. (Nick) Nicoletti, 88, of Columbia died Nov. 9, 2003 at Columbia Convalescent Center. 
He was the husband of Verta Schneider whom he married May 13, 1968. He was born Aug. 8, 1915 
at St. Louis the son of the late Nick and Mary Nicoletti. Besides his wife he is survived by two step-
daughters, Shirley (Willie) Eckert and Jane (Rich) Sommer; six grandchildren and 121 great 
grandchildren. His parents and two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. He retired from 
Bi-State Transit after 35 years of service as a driver. He was included into the St. Louis Baseball 
Amateur Hall of Fame as an umpire and was a member of the Columbia Senior Citizens and the 
Columbia Gymnastic Association. He attended Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation was at the 
Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral was at the funeral home Nov. 12 with Fr. Steve Gira officiating. Burial 
was at the church cemetery.
