Obit Jehling, Mildred nee Schaefer Mildred Jehling nee Schaefer, 81, of Fountain, died February 16, 2005, in Fountain. She was born June 26, 1923, in Merrimac, the daughter of the late William H. and Katie Schaefer nee Stumpf. She was married to the late Lester H. Jehling for 56 years. She is survived by her children Jeanette (Richard) McClellan of Valmeyer, Kathy (Larry) Washausen of Waterloo, Bonnie (Richard) Valentine of Waterloo, and Lori (James) Burns of Plainfield; grandchildren Keith (Donna) Washausen, Marc (Amy) McClellan, Kevin (Allison) Washausen, Wendy (Paul) Hill, Lana (Steve) Reichert, John Valentine, Janese Valentine, Denise (Matt) Oleson, Marshall Schellhardt, Madison Burns and Cassidy Burns; great-grandchildren Jeremy Hill, Leah Hill, Kasey Washausen, Paige Washausen, Jacob Washausen, Bailey Reichert, Abigail Reichert, Trevor McClellan and Dakota Valentine; and sisters-in-law Bertha Jehling and Dorothy Schaefer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Hunter McClellan, sister Laverta Goldschmidt, brothers Herbert Schaefer, Earl Schaefer and Clarence Schaefer, and one brother in infancy. Mrs. Jehling was a member of St. John UCC in Valmeyer. She participated in Monday and Thursday bowling leagues in Columbia, was a member of the Monroe County Relay for Life ‘Sure Cure’ Team, and she baked wedding cakes out of her home. Mrs. Jehling loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her country. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, playing Kloepper, needle work and sewing. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor David Riebeling officiating. She is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
