Lepp, Fred Sr. Waterloo Republican July 18, 1934 Fred Lepp, Sr. died at his home on North Second Street on Friday, July 13, 1934 after an illness of several months. He was born April 23, 1857, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lepp Sr. who lived in the vicinity of Hecker. He married Miss Franziska Steppig from Columbia, and engaged in farming all his life, and was very successful. Some years ago the Lepp’s built a fine home in Lepp’s Addition, and lived in retirement. His wife preceded him in death a few years ago. He leaves four sons, William, George, Fred and Harry Lepp; and one daughter Mrs. Earl Payne, wife of Hy Payne all of Columbia; two brothers, Albert and William Lepp of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. John Wenkel and Mrs. Otto Ritter, besides a large number of other relatives. The Lepp family was active and diligent, and is well known all over this part of Monroe County. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon with services at the home of the deceased, conducted by Rev. E. J. Westerbeck of St. Paul’s Evangelical church, and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery beside the grave of his wife. He was aged 77 years, 2 months and 20 days. Transcribed by Jean Jung
