Butler, 54 of Waterloo, died suddenly June 15, 1984 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville. He was the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Butler nee Harris. A funeral mass was held at noon Monday in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Waterloo, the Rev. Jerome Ratermann officiating. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Quernheim Funeral Directors were in charge. Mr. Butler was born April 13, 1930 in St. Louis, a son of Joseph and Mae Lillian Butler, nee Murphy. He is survived by his wife; three daughters Cheryl Steibel and Christina DeMond of Pr. du Rocher and Kathleen Schulz of Waterloo; four sons, James Michael of South Houston, Tex., Roger Alan of New Baden, Ill., Joseph Andrew and Michael Alan of Waterloo; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Pitzer of Ft. Smith, Ark., and two brothers, Thomas P. and Gerald E. Butler, both of St. Louis. He was employed in the maintenance department of A.T.& T’s Consumer products division.
