JOSEPH GRIFFIN DIED YESTERDAY Joseph J. Griffin, 63, husband of the late Mrs. Tillie Griffin and owner of Griffin Welding Service in Hecker, died yesterday morning, May 25, at St. Clement’s Hospital in Red Bud. Mr. Griffin had been a member of the Hecker board of village trustees until May 1. He did not seek re-election this year. His funeral will take place from the Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo with Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hecker, the Rev. Anthony Keepes officiating, and burial will be in the SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Waterloo. Mr. Griffin was born May 10, 1902, at Madonnaville, a son of John and Elizabeth Griffin, nee Kraft. He is survived by a sister, Pearl Griffin of Hecker; and two brothers, Edwin of Evanston, Illinois; and Albert of Arlington, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife and twin daughters, who died in 1938; his mother, who died in 1935; his father, who died in 1962; a sister, Stella Griffin; and a brother, Stephen Griffin. He was a member of St. Augustine Church, the Holy Name Society, Waterloo Council Knights of Columbus, and the Granite City Boilermakers’ Union.
