ELIZABETH ANN GRIFFIN Elizabeth Ann Griffin, nee Buncher, 100, of Summerville, S.C., and formerly of Belleville, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the Oakbrook Convalescent Center in Summerville. Born July 26, 1897, in Monroe County, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (nee Eschmann) Buncher, and the wife of the late Stephen W. Griffin to whom she was married in Madonnaville, Ill., in 1923 and who died in 1957. Mrs. Griffin was a retired teacher who had taught at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Grade School in Belleville. She was a charter member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish and was a member of American Legion Post 58 Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella Circle 329. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick D. and Virginia Griffin of Rockwall, Texas; two daughters, Eileen Bonney of Santa Ana, Calif., and Yvonne Bamert of Summerville; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, J. Dennis Griffin; a grandson, Mark Griffin; and five brothers and two sisters. The funeral Mass was Saturday, Oct. 25, at Blessed Sacrament Church in Belleville, with Father Marvin Volk officiating. Burial was in the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo, Ill. Memorials can be made as Masses, Meals on Wheels of Summerville; St. Theresa of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Summerville or to the donor’s choice.
