CATHERINE GRIFFIN DIED DEC. 17 Catherine A. Griffin, nee Shields, 81, of Waterloo, wife of the late William M. Griffin, died Dec 17, 1986, at St. Clement Hospital, Red Bud, after being a patient for three weeks. A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Dec 19 in SS Peter and Paul Church, Waterloo, Father Francis Seyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Quernheim Funeral Directors were in charge. Mrs. Griffin was born July 12, 1905, in Monroe County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget Shields, nee Mathews. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Nobue Griffin, a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Griffin, all of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Jerome (Elizabeth) Schilling, Mrs. Victor (Mildred) Reagan and Ann George all of Waterloo; Theresa Van de Riet and Grace Dougherty, both of Freeburg; brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband who died June 14, 1975, a son, Jerry T. Griffin who died Aug. 10, 1986, a grandson, Thomas L. Griffin, five brothers and a sister.
