Jung, another of our respected citizens, died at his residence in Waterloo, Friday, March 4, 1910, after an illness of several weeks; tho not always confined to his bed. The deceased was born March 12, 1833 in Bellheim, Bavaria. In 1852 he came to America by the New Orleans route, to Waterloo. On March 4, 1862, he was married to Miss Carolina Braun, Father Limacher officiating, this being Reverend Limacher’s first marriage ceremony. Twelve children were born to this union, eight of them living. John, Henry, Mrs. Henry Sievers, Joseph, Alois, Mrs. Herman Janson, Mrs. Ed Vogt and Charles. The deceased was a member of our city for many years. He also served the city as alderman at one time. He stood high in the church, and for about a fourth of a century was one its trustees; and was also the treasurer of S. S. Peter and Paul Society. The funeral was Monday morning in the Catholic Cemetery, a large number of friends attending the last rites. I received this information from my parent’s research of the 1970’s.
